There are three permissions (read, upload, and edit) you can have to a folder that you accessed through a link. The permissions you have to a folder are set by the person who created the link.
If you have the read permission, you can view and download the files in the folder. If you have upload permission, you can upload files into the folder. If you have edit permission, you can edit Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. Links can be set with one or more of these permissions. Depending on how your account is configured, clicking on a file in a folder can either download or open the file.
